About Dr. Dickie

Dr. John Dickie is a Thoracic Surgeon and the Chief and Program Medical Director of Surgery at Lakeridge Health and the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre. He has been a leader in thoracic surgery for more than two decades and has played a pivotal role in developing the Central East Regional Thoracic Surgery Program. Dr. Dickie also established Lakeridge Health’s Robotic Surgery Program and has led numerous initiatives focused on surgical quality and patient outcomes.

He completed his medical degree at Queen’s University, followed by General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery training at the University of Toronto. He also earned a Master of Science through the University of Toronto’s Surgical Scientist Program. Dr. Dickie is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at Queen’s University and has held national leadership roles with the Canadian Association of Thoracic Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Dickie’s interests include thoracic oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, and quality improvement in surgical care. He continues to advance innovation in the field while maintaining a strong commitment to patient-centred practice and leadership.
