About Dr. Trainor
Dr. Shannon Trainor is a Thoracic Surgeon and the Division Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Lakeridge Health. She joined the surgical staff in 2010 and has established herself as a respected clinician and leader, known for her expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and dedication to patient care.
Dr. Trainor earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto and completed her General Surgery residency there as well. She went on to complete thoracic surgery training at the University of Alberta and McMaster University, followed by advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Trainor is an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University and an active contributor to hospital and professional committees. Her leadership includes service on the Board of Directors of the Lakeridge Health Foundation and as Physician Lead for the Canadian Association of Thoracic Surgeons Peer Support Program. She is fluent in both English and French and is recognized for fostering teamwork, mentorship, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Outside the clinical setting, Dr. Trainor teaches yoga and meditation, reinforcing a holistic, whole-person approach to health and wellness.
